This fourth Ohio Women’s Outdoor Adventures (OWOA) will take place August 25-27, 2017 at Salt Fork Lodge & Conference Center, 14755 Cadiz Road, Lore City, Ohio 43755. This annual program was created specifically for women and features a variety of on-the-water workshops taught by trained specialists.
Sponsored by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR), this year’s weekend will be held at Salt Fork State Park on Aug. 25-27. Learn a variety of outdoor skills amidst a backdrop of forested hills and misty valleys in Guernsey County. Your adventure weekend will include a variety of new and exciting outdoor and water activities. Indoor activities and overnight accommodations will be held at the Salt Fork Lodge & Conference Center.
You can choose your own aquatic adventure including kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, Jon-boating, trailering, launching/loading and powerboating basics. Fishing workshops include shoreline fishing, kayak fishing, bow fishing and fly fishing.
Take a hike to the historic Kennedy Stone House. Learn about wilderness first aid, how to keep bees, geology/gem mining and even how to listen for Bigfoot! Discover “creeking” and horseback riding and learn how to raise monarch butterflies. Get in touch with your sharpshooter side with introduction classes on archery, handgun, shotgun and rifle.
Let your backyard live up to its potential with the Small Scale Sustainability session, with segments on creating a backyard banquet, bringing on the birds and handling your harvest. Meet the deer herd at Deerassic Park Education Center and learn more about these amazing animals with the “Wonders of the Whitetail.”
Evening brings an opportunity to join a Bigfoot Night Hike, or rise early for a water aerobics class. Beginning June 1, registration and detailed workshop descriptions will be available by Ohio State Parks & Watercraft website. Registration opens June 1.
