Learn field identification of the captivating butterfly species calling the eastern prairies and forests their home. Butterflies are diurnal, large, stunningly beautiful and rich in metaphor. Studying their identification and natural history during this weekend will illustrate the everyday miracles of metamorphosis, cryptic camouflage, color/pattern mimicry, chemical warfare and seduction, gender roles, and inter-species relationships.
