This Instructor led hybrid course will help you build your knowledge of Ohio’s diverse ecology and natural resources, interpretation techniques, field identification skills, and opportunities to contribute to scientific understanding and conservation through community science and land stewardship.   Format: The OCVN course in Franklin County will be divided into a series of 14 sessions taught via live zooms, face to face meetings, optional Sat. field days, and online modules.  The session topics include Ohio’s birds, geology, soils, forests, mammals, water resources, climate change and more.   The session leaders are Faculty and Staff of The Ohio State University along with professionals and other experts.  Cost: $100.00 and Includes manual, shirt, pin, access to certification portal and online modules.

We ask that you miss no more than two required sessions. If you have schedule conflicts and will miss more than 2 sessions please plan to register for a future course.

Weekly Zoom Instruction: Tuesday evenings Sept. 20, 2022—Dec. 13, 2022, from 5:30—8:00 PM  And Wed 12/7/2022 noon –1:30 PM  (no session on Tue Nov. 22)  

Face to Face Session Dates:

9/27/2022 Tue evening 5:30—8:30 PM Highbanks Metro Park Nature Center;

10/1/2022 Sat (optional Geology hike) 9:00 AM—1:00 PM  Highbanks Metro Park Oak Coves picnic area;

10/8/2022 Sat (optional and to be confirmed Reptiles and Amphibians) 1-4 PM Darby Creek Metro Park;

10/11/2022 Tue 5-8 PM (Insects) OSU Extension Office, Franklin County;

11/10/2022 Thurs 5:30—8:00 PM (Soils) OSU Extension Office, Franklin County;

12/7/2022 Wed 5:30—8:00 PM (Climate Change) OSU Extension Office, Franklin County
