The Tree Course - Trees of the Great Eastern Forest - Field Recognition

The Appalachian Forest School, Advanced Inter-disciplinary field studies for the serious nature student.

This in-depth course will teach you to recognize the most widely distributed trees in Eastern United States. You will be taught the skills to identify a tree far distances away, up-close with leaves in hand, and by the bark when a tree’s leaves are too high in the canopy to clearly see. Topics of forest ecology, natural history and conservation are embedded in this thoroughly field-oriented curriculum. By course’s end you will be able to identify up to 38 tree species dominating the mid-latitudes of Eastern United States.  For more information, click on the link above.
