Tim McDermott will talk to us about ticks. Tick-vectored diseases are a public health threat that is under reported and under estimated. Ohio has multiple tick species that can vector life-threatening diseases to livestock, companion animals and humans. Come learn what species and diseases you need to be aware of as well as how to protect yourself and your family from tick-vectored disease.
Dr. Timothy McDermott has been an Extension Educator in Agriculture and Natural Resources for the past four years after a twenty-year career in private practice veterinary medicine and surgery. His areas of specialization in Extension include local food systems and veterinary science. He has lectured for and collaborated with audiences including American Electric Power, the Ohio Department of Forestry, the Glatfelter Corporation, the Ohio Department of Agriculture, Michigan State University, Purdue University, Ohio University and many county and regional public health departments in Ohio.
