Join Wild Ohio as they examine this northern species that visits Ohio and the United States in the winter. The American tree sparrow can tolerate very harsh winters and low temperatures if the food supply is good. To help identify this bird look for a rusty cap and rusty (not black) eyeline on a gray head. There will also be a dark smudge in the center of the unstreaked breast.
