BIRDING FOR BEGINNERS - songs and calls

Jan. 15, 2014

From Wild Ohio

Many birds have a distinct RHYTHM, PITCH, or TONE when they sing. While singing a bird is revealing what it is and where it is. Once you focus on it, you'll have a better understanding of the bird's identity. Being familiar with calls and songs helps you to do a quick survey of what’s near you and you also know where to put your attention when you hear something that you don’t recognize. In this video you will see a spectrogram and hear the song of a variety of birds that sound very different.
