In 2010 I went through the OCVN program in Montgomery County. It changed my life. After the program, I changed careers and began the process of working towards my dream of creating an educational center in our area, where people of all ages could learn about animals and nature. I went back to college to get my master's in zoology, held a position as an ODNR State Park Naturalist for a few years and wrote a business plan for my venture. I traveled to Belize, Kenya and Namibia to study field conservation and incorporate that into the plan. I now have a 31-acre farm in Lewisburg, Ohio (Preble County) that is home to over 25 species of animals both native and exotic. I hold USFW permits for our native birds-of-prey including a bald eagle. We are licensed by the USDA and Division of Wildlife and are a 501c3 non-profit.
Our mantra is: Stay true to yourself. Believe you can make a difference. Know through hard work you can accomplish your goals and dreams!
We are growing! Part of my vision and growth will be to include educators from all walks of nature to teach the public about what we love! There will be a variety of volunteer and paid opportunities for the right individuals to teach programs on their own schedule. Just a few options could be fishing, bird watching, nature crafts and more. We have a large pond on the property that draws native wildlife galore.
I am just now working on our planning for the summer. If you have something you are passionate about and have the time to teach a couple times a month, I would love to hear your ideas! I am looking for very friendly, patient and extremely enthusiastic people who are excited to make a difference.
Please feel free to reach out to me and send me your resume, areas of interest and availability.
