The Fishes of Ohio Inventory and Distribution Significant Finds of 2013

The Fishes of Ohio Inventory and Distribution project began in March of 2011 with the intent to gain a better understanding of the distribution of all of Ohio’s fishes, with an emphasis on rare species. Brian Zimmerman, who has a master’s degree in aquatic ecology from Bowling Green State University and extensive experience in searching for and identifying rare fishes, was hired to head up this project. This project is being funded by the ODNR Division of Wildlife and conducted by Ohio State University. He is assisted by Justin Baker, who recently completed his doctoral degree in conservation genetics of fish from St. Louis University. The following are several accounts of Zimmerman's and Baker's significant finds from 2013.
