Participants are invited to come to Aullwood to count the birds that visit our feeders. On Saturday at 2:30 p.m., Tom Hissong will offer a hands-on workshop for all ages on how to identify common winter birds in our area and how to participate in the Great Backyard Bird Count at your home. After an indoor session, we will venture outdoors to count birds in our sanctuary. Registration is not necessary, just dress warmly and help count the birds.

Friends of the Warren County Park District and Ohio Certified Volunteer Naturalists will again host their annual Great Backyard Bird Count event within the cozy confines of Hisey Park’s historic farmhouse. Weather permitting, groups will venture out into the many habitats of Hisey Park to spot birds and other wildlife. If you prefer, you may stay in the farmhouse, snuggle up to a window, sip coffee, tea, hot chocolate or cider, munch on snacks and count birds at several bird feeders around the house. This event is a popular citizen science project and is open to the public. No registration required.
