2013 Crane Migration Update
November 21, 2013
The southern migration of Ohio’s sandhill cranes started on November 13 when 117257 flew from LaSuAn Wildlife Area to Kentucky and then continued its journey south the next day and stopped at the Hiawassee Wildlife Refuge near Chattanooga, TN. It has remained there since. Crane 119996 flew from Ohio to southern Michigan on September 16 and is still there. The other three radio-marked cranes are near Killbuck Marsh and Funk Bottoms Wildlife Areas. The maps will be updated as frequently as the cranes move.
